Chassis No. CSC53C The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, produced from 1963 to 1966, saw a total of 2,809 manufactured—however, only 49 of these were right-hand drive examples clothed in Mulliner Park Ward (MPW) Drophead Coupe design number 2045 coachwork. That total includes this car, chassis CSC53C, which was ordered by C. Cantor Esq. Delivered through Rippon Brothers Ltd. in late 1965, it was specified with whitewall tires, a full-automatic electric radio antenna, and combined parking and signal lights. The build sheet’s special features list continues, noting that MPW was to install a switch supplied by Crewe to allow for a special high-frequency horn in addition to the standard tone horn. Interestingly, the list shows the chassis was dispatched to MPW without a radiator shell or mascot, and a "heavy gauge frame" was explicitly requested. Previous research indicates that the car was later acquired by British Politician and noted advertising executive Maurice Nathan Saatchi, Baron Saatchi, in 1984. Under his direction, the car was refinished in his favorite shade of Velvet Green. Following his tenure with the car, it was sold in 2007, and once again refinished in elegant Dawn Blue. Today, the car displays just over 61,000 miles at cataloging, which are believed to be original. Residing in a large Switzerland-based collection since 2007, the Drophead Coupe has remained on static display inside the climate-controlled facility and will need mechanical refurbishment before its return to road use as it is current in non-running condition. A fantastic expression of Mulliner Park Ward's craft, this Silver Cloud III remains as compelling for exhibition as it is for elegant journeys in unmistakable Rolls-Royce style.
